IPmobile to Start Pre-Commercial of a Higher Performing Mobile Broadband System
Maximum downlink 11 Mbps
Tokyo, October 2, 2006 - IPMobile will start pre-commercial trials of a higher performing version of the TD-CDMA mobile broadband system, which will be
implemented next spring.
To this date, IPMobile has been performing trials of the mobile broadband service using the TD-CDMA technology with a performance of maximum downlink at 5.5Mbps. In
order to provide higher performance from the start of the commercial launch, IPMobile will upgrade the system by utilizing a wider spectrum with the same TD-CDMA
technology, resulting in a higher throughput (max downlink 11Mpbs).
Tests will commence as soon as the applied trial license is granted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Infrastructure will be constructed starting from central Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku, Minatoku-ku, Chuo-ku areas) and will be sequentially expanded to surrounding areas. Trials will be held until next spring.
IPMobile aims to meet the rising demand for a stress-free mobile broadband/internet access.
